Cormorants - Are they to Blame for Fish Loss?

I urge all visitors to read Doug Leier's piece on cormorants. Like Doug, I don't hate these birds, and suspect they do eat some of the same fish we're after. However, I really believe anglers would be a lot better off campaigning for good water quality than worrying about the birds getting a few walleyes. They are, as Doug wrote, capable of eating a half-dozen fish per day, but those are small fish. And you'd need a helluva big flock of cormorants to equal the fishing harvest of a single day. Let's keep things in perspective.
