West Shore Boat Ramp High, Dry

Take a look at the West Shore Boat Ramp, just above the dam on Lake Oahe at Pierre, SD. This is one of the most popular ramps on the lower end of the reservoir, probably because of the usually outstanding fishing, and its close proximity to South Dakota's Capitol City. Meanwhile, Game, Fish & Parks officials will be chasing water this season to make sure boaters and fishermen can get access to this reservoir. So far, it shows all the positive signs of returning as one of the best walleye fisheries in the nation. Our exprience at Walth Bay west of Selby on an ice fishing outing a few weeks ago, show that Oahe's walleyes are fat and sassy, as they were a few years back.
