As a fitting tribute to Tony Dean, and as a lasting legacy, his family and friends have established a memorial to continue his life's work by providing acres that will:
> support wildlife habitat
> provide for public outdoor recreation
> carry on Tony's commitment to environmental education
Funds are now being raised to purchase land in South Dakota, and to provide for outdoor education in partnership with conservation organizations, State and Federal agencies. Every $1,000 donated will buy an acre of wildlife habitat and support conservation education programs.
To be known as Tony Dean's Acres, the land will be managed for wildlife in perpetuity under the direction of the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks, and will be open to public use for outdoor recreation.
Funds for environmental education programming will focus on land stewardship, wildlife and fisheries resource management.
To bring this project to life, Tony's family has partnered with the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation to establish a restricted account for the purpose of accepting donations for Tony Dean's Acres Memorial. The Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, and contributions are deductible to the maximum extent allowable for federal income tax purposes.
Contributions to the Tony Dean's Acres fund will be used entirely for conservation and education purposes, and you will be helping to make sure the voice of conservation continues to be heard in South Dakota.
For every dollar raised, we have partnership agreements from agencies and conservation organizations to match our contribution on a 4 to 1 basis.
Tony Dean's Acres will be open to public use for outdoor recreation and education.
