Stingin' Pike at Devils Lake

Tony loves pike, especially nice pike in the 7 to 10 pound range, which is typical of Devils Lake in North Dakota. Though it is a premier walleye lake, this 140,000 acre body of water is also a dandy pike fishery. This fish came off the railroad tracks in the background, which are on the north end of Pelican Lake, also a part of Devils Lake. The pike was taken on a #12 Salmo Sting, a great suspending bait that works well on pike and walleyes. It should be fished like a jerk bait...pull...pause...crank up slack...pull...pause...crank up slack. Nearly all hits come on the pause.
