Spending my Birthday at Steve Halverson's Farm

We had a great day on Sat., Nov. 26, hunting Steve Halverson's farm south of Kennebec. We limited in just 2 1/2 hours. I'm standing in front of my 3-year-old pointing Lab, Dee, and alongside is a nice gentleman from the Kansas City area, Rodney Purkey, Jim Protexter, head man for the Pierre Economic Development Corporation, and Gordon Woods of Pierre. In front, Jim's three boys, Brock Hutmacher of Chamberlain, and Jim's nephew Bennett. The boys shot well. And the number of birds on Steve's farm is nothing short of fantastic. I've never hunted on a single farm with as many birds. Best of all, Steve doesn't stock birds, which means you're hunting the way you should...wild birds. Not pictured are Joe Hutmacher of Chamberlain, Karl Richards of Pierre and host, Steve Halverson.
