If you want to see the importance of tree grove planning look at the Full Tree Grove picture. This grove has two rows of cedars but unfortunately they are on the wrong side. Once they fill with snow there is little remaining shelter for wildlife. Had these been planted on the downwind side they would have provided perfect winter protection. I have also attached photos of my cedar tree grove. The first 3 rows are full of snow allowing the remaining 4 rows for shelter from the wind. I included photos of some frozen birds which succumbed to the weather. RIght now I am estimating 10% loss(saw alot of live birds today) but will have a better idea this weekend when we hunt next. We may not know for sure until the snow melts out of the trees and cattails. The house photo was taken in Kennebec today also-wow!!!
